Black Skimmers

A group of Black Skimmers have a territorial dispute on a beach on Long Island, New York. This colony of Skimmers have chicks of varying ages and are constantly hunting for fish to feed their growing young.

Peregrine Falcon

A Peregrine Falcon takes flight from a precipice of the Palisades of the Hudson near New York City. The presence of a resident breeding pair of Peregrines is a tribute to efforts to preserve this raptor.

Red Fox

A Red Fox takes a rest from mousing in Northern Bucks County in Pennsylvania. This fox was tolerant of my presence as I took her portrait and remained at rest as I departed.

Mountain Goat

This baby Mountain Goat practices its balance in Glacier National Park. Mountain Goats are renowned for their agility in steep, treacherous terrain. In Glacier National Park there is an abundance of such terrain that this little one will need to evade predators.

Bison were once present in the millions throughout North America. Few remain after decades of eradication during the 1800’s. This male is enjoying the bounty of late spring in Badlands National Park.

Common Loon

Common Loons are experts at fishing and living an aquatic life style. They migrate to clear, cold lakes in the summer to raise their offspring (usually two). I captured this image from a kayak in the Adirondack Park of New York.

Red Fox

I red fox mousing on an early fall morning at Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge in Delaware. The National Wildlife Refuge system has become a haven for not only migratory birds, but also a host of mammals, reptiles, amphibians and resident bird species.
